The short version. This site is free because advertisers pay us. We earn a referral fee when you click through to certain providers and apply or are approved. That money affects which companies we feature, what order they appear in, and how prominently — including which one we rank first.
It does not affect what you pay, and it does not change the figures we publish. But you should read everything here knowing that we have a commercial interest in some of the companies on this page, and decide for yourself how much weight to give our opinion.
On this page
1. How we get paid
My Biz Funding Options is a free comparison site. We do not charge readers, and there is no subscription or paywall. The site is funded entirely by advertising.
Most outbound links to funding providers on this site are tracked affiliate links. When you click one, a tracking parameter or cookie records that the visit came from us. If you then complete an application, or in some arrangements are approved and funded, the provider or its affiliate network pays us a referral fee.
The fee varies by provider and by what you do. Some arrangements pay per qualified application, some pay only on funding, and the amounts differ between partners. We may also be paid a flat fee for placement.
2. What compensation affects
We would rather be blunt about this than reassuring.
- Which companies we feature. A company that participates in an affiliate program we can join is far more likely to appear here than one that does not.
- The order they appear in. Our rankings are influenced by commercial factors — including compensation rates and how well a provider converts — alongside editorial ones.
- How prominent they are. Paid partners get larger cards, logos, repeated call-to-action banners and the sticky bar at the bottom of the screen. Non-paying options get a row in a table.
- Which provider we rank first. Our top pick is a paid placement.
In other words, the ordering on this site is not a neutral, purely objective ranking of every option available to you, and you should not read it as one.
3. What it does not affect
- What you pay. Applying through our link costs you exactly the same as going to the provider directly. Referral fees are paid by the provider out of its own marketing budget. There is no markup, no surcharge and no worse rate for arriving via us.
- The figures we publish. Rates, limits, timelines and eligibility criteria come from the providers' own published material or from general market ranges. We do not adjust a number to make a partner look better.
- The disclaimers. Where a product is expensive or restrictive, we say so, including for partners. The 0% program we rank first is credit-led and many applicants will not qualify for it; we say that on the homepage rather than in the small print.
- Your application. We are not a party to it. We do not see your credit report, we are not told your terms, and we have no influence over whether you are approved.
4. Who currently pays us
At the time of the last update to this page, our advertising relationship is with WeLendIt, the funding marketplace featured as our top pick. We are paid when a visitor applies or is approved through our links to them, and that compensation is why they hold the most prominent position on the site.
WeLendIt's 9.8/10 rating is our own editorial assessment. It is not audited, not certified by anyone, and not independent of the commercial relationship described above.
This relationship may change. If we add or remove partners we will update this page, but there may be a lag between a change taking effect and this page being revised.
5. The options we show alongside
The other options on our comparison page — SBA loans, traditional bank term loans, merchant cash advances and business credit cards — are funding categories, not companies. Nobody pays us to have them listed, and no specific lender is being recommended through them.
They are described using published market ranges for that type of product, so you have something to measure our paid placement against. This means those figures are necessarily approximate, and a specific lender in any of those categories may offer considerably better or worse terms than the range we show. An SBA loan will almost always be cheaper capital than anything we are paid to promote, and we say so on the homepage.
6. How our ratings work
Any score, star rating, "best" label or badge on this site is our own editorial opinion at the time of publication. It is not an audited rating, not independently verified, and not a statement that a product is the best available to you or in the market generally.
Our editorial assessment weights the true cost of capital including fees, the maximum amount available, the time from application to funds, how accessible the approval criteria are, and whether checking your options damages your credit. Those judgments are then influenced by the commercial factors described in section 2. Someone weighting the same factors differently, or with no commercial interest, could reasonably reach a different conclusion.
7. We do not cover the whole market
There are many lenders, credit unions, community development financial institutions, community banks, and regional or industry-specific programs we do not write about at all. Some of them will be a better fit for your business than anything listed here, particularly if cost matters more to you than speed.
Our absence of coverage is not a judgment about those providers. It usually just means there is no affiliate relationship available, or we have not got to them yet.
8. Nothing here is an offer of credit
We are not a lender, bank, or broker. Nothing on this site is an offer or commitment to lend, a pre-approval, or a guarantee that you will qualify for anything.
All amounts, rates, timelines and terms are supplied by the providers and change without notice. What you are actually offered depends entirely on the provider's underwriting and your own qualifications, including credit profile, time in business and revenue. Review every offer's full terms, all fees, and the total cost of borrowing directly with the provider before you sign anything.
9. Why we disclose this way
Affiliate compensation is normal in this industry, and a disclosure buried three clicks deep in a footer is also normal. We put a plain-English notice at the top of every page instead, and wrote this page to be read rather than to satisfy a requirement.
The reason is straightforward: you are researching how to borrow money for your business, and the cost of being quietly steered is real. You cannot judge how much weight to give our opinion without knowing who pays us. So we tell you, in the same size type as everything else.
